Bio:
Mary Margaret Mullane has worked on over 40 film projects in various capacities as Director, Producer, Production Designer, and Camera Operator. In 2017, she received a certificate in Applied Project Management from the University of Akron. Director of the following short films: Face in a Crowd (2013), Palimpsest (2013), Onion (2013), Semblance of Love (2013), Nightscape (2013), Day break (2013), Obsolescence (2010), Savulsanah (2011), Sweet Jesus (2009), Victorian Nightmare (2007), and 2012 (2006).
Mary's first role as a Production Designer was on the short film On Homeostasis (2008) directed by Matt Boman. The Santa Fe Metaphysical Film Festival gave On Homeostasis an Honorable Mention in the category of Best Short Film. Mary then interned on Terrence Malick's film The Tree of Life in 2008 for three months of principal shooting in Texas. The Tree of Life (2012) won the Palme d'Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for an Oscar in 2012 for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
In 2010, Mary graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design with a BFA in Film & Television. Mary Directed the short film Obsolescence which was nominated for a Scademy in the category of Best Undergraduate Documentary in 2011. Art Directed the New York Film Academy short Perta (Directed by David Cocheret), which won Best Student Film at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood in 2011. Production Designed on the AFI cycle short film About Face with the award winning director Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen.
From January to April of 2012 she interned in the Development Department providing script coverage for feature films for Ambush Entertainment. She was Art Director on the feature film The Marriage Chronicles which was released in 2012.
Noticing a lack of resources and community for Filmmakers in Akron, Ohio she created the Akron Film Collective in 2018. Akron Film Collective is intended to bring together a community of Filmmakers from Akron, Ohio, and surrounding NE Ohio to inspire, educate, and advocate for the advancement of the cinematic arts. This group is intended for industry professionals and artists who are invested in actively creating the craft and artwork of moving images whether through film, video, or digital art as their medium.
In 2019, wanting to focus more on Cinematography, Mary trained with ARRI and RED Digital Cinema. She is Certified Online Training for Camera Systems (Alexa LF, Alexa SXT, Alexa Mini, Amira) from ARRI Academy taught by Florian Rettich, and REDucation: Red Digital Cinema Camera Systems Certified through RED Digital Cinema taught by Megan Donnelly, with teaching assistants William Donaruma, and Eric Liberacki. On the panel of judges for the 2nd Annual Highland Square Film Festival.
Mary enjoys teaching yoga, art, and writing on her blog Language Boucherie.
