2012 (2007)
This project was made for my Intro to Video class at SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design) in 2007. I wish I had the email explaining the complexities of the idea behind this project. I'm proud of this project as it is one of the first projects I ever made. I was a freshman, new to filmmaking, and scared and thrilled to take chances. It was perhaps a little too ambitious but I wanted to tell this kind of fun and epic story.
In the film, these friends are hanging out by the beach when suddenly they inadvertently summon this Mayan god when they discover this buried Mayan calendar. They write it off as some drugged induced hallucination. This was supposed to be symbolic of our apathetic age. But low and behold this hermit in the woods is the only one who has been waiting for this moment. Can he stop the world from ending?! Enjoy this awesomely badness!
The music in the beginning of the film was from an Animal Collective song 'Leaf House'.
